See #5 below for a list of dates that we will be open for walk-in retail sales. We continue to ask tht you contact us to verify that the nursery will be open on those dates. We will be shipping plants around the country, but may delay shipments to areas experienceing winter storms or severe cold. If you have placed an order and will be away, please ask us to hold your shipment during that period.
NEXT SHIPMENT FROM PANAMA DELAYED INDEFINITELY!! We remain in league with the Maduros in Panama and will continue to sell their wonderful species and hybrids. However, we are sold down on species for the moment. Our next shipment from the Maduro's is now delayed indefinitely due to issues in Panama. Nursery Manager, Andrew Maduro Jr. (Choty), continues his studies at Cornell University. Once Choty returns to Panama, shipments should begin again. We will post updates on this page.
NEW LOOK FOR WOODSTREAM ORCHIDS! For some it may be no surprise, for others... We have returned to our roots with a strong focus on Paphs and Phrags. The majority of our offerings center on Paphiopedilum species and complex hybrids and Phragmipedium species and hybrids from our breeding. We continue to select and add elite breeding stock in both these genera and are excited by the potential we see on our benches in thousands of unbloomed seedlings. No doubt we will select some terrific new plants for future breeding. We also offer the same unbloomed (but not currently in bud) blooming size seedlings to our customers. We routinely receive beautiful images of plants that have bloomed for others that originated here with us. Nothing could please us more!
MANY NEW PAPHS AND PHRAGS have been recently added to our web site offerings. We performed an extensive greenhouse inventory that disclosed dozens of plants that were not on the web pages. We also repotted and divided a number of valuable Paphs and Phrags. Some of these divisions are now listed, and more will be added as they become established.
VISIT WOODSTREAM ORCHIDS!! As ususal we ask that you call to assure that we will be there. As one of our customers put it... "IT'S A TREASURE HUNT! We expect to be open 9 am - 5 pm for walk-in (please e-mail to confirm we will be open) retail sales on the following dates: Saturady and Sunday May 10-11, 2008 and our Open house Saturday and Sunday May 17-18, 2008.

If you have ordered plants from us or made inquiries regarding purchasing plants from us within the past two years, you are automatically on the general list. Please specify if you would like to receive updates on Paphs and Phrags, Panamanian orchids, or flasks.
SHIPPING - Most orders will be shipped within 2 weeks of receiving the order, when plants are in stock and payment and shipping information is provided, weather permitting. IF YOU WILL BE AWAY, PLEASE LET US KNOW SO WE DO NOT SHIP WHEN THERE IS NO ONE TO RECEIVE YOUR PLANTS. We recommend that you provide an address where someone will be available to receive the plants so they do not sit outside. Shipping may be delayed during the busy show months of February, March, and April.
COST OF SHIPPING We are raising our shipping rates to match the increases forced on us by the US Postal Service and Fedex. Orders under $100 shipped via Priority Mail will be $15. Minimum shipping cost for orders over $100 is $15 for Priority Mail Service. Express Mail and Fedex Service will be charged at cost, plus a $5 surcharge to cover shipping supplies and packing. Especially large boxes are being charged balloon rates, and that may mean a $20 (or more) surcharge on a box of Sobralias. We regret having to pass on these expenses to you. It is not our goal to make money on shipping, but we are unwilling to lose money, either.
Woodstream Orchids (WSO) opened our Maryland nursery to the public for the first time on May 26, 2001 after over 10 years in Bucks County, Pennsylvania! WSO is now open by appointment Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Many people express a desire to visit our nursery, and we request that you e-mail or call first, to ensure the nursery will be open. Woodstream Orchids is located in Huntingtown in southeastern Maryland's beautiful Calvert County, between the Patuxent River and Chesapeake Bay, approximately 30 miles southeast of Washington, D.C. and 24 miles south of Annapolis. Here are some approximate driving times from: Washington, DC Beltway (495) and Route 4 - 30 minutes; Reagan National Airport - 50 minutes; Silver Spring, MD - 50 minutes; Baltimore-Washington International Airport - 45 minutes; Baltimore, MD - 1 hour; Dulles International Airport - 1.5 hours; Richmond, VA - 2 hours; Philadelphia, PA - 3 hours; Pittsburgh, PA - 4 hours; New York, NY - 4.5 hours; Denver, CO - ~40 hours.
