Paphinia is a genus of small sized plants that produce fragrant showy somewhat translucent flowers on pndent racemes. Paphinias are related to Stanhopeas. They enjoy moderately bright light, warm-intermediate temperatures, good humidity and air movement. They grow well in plastic net pots with moss. According to Dr. Robert Dressler, there are two species of Paphinia found in Panama.

Paphinia herrerae - (Colombia) Charming Stanhopea relative with large red pendent flowers. Grow warm, with moderate light, evenly moist.

Paphinia subclausa - (Panama) Charming small-growing Stanhopea relative with large red pendent flowers. Grow warm-intermediate (comes from 1,500-2,400 feet elevation, with moderate light, evenly moist. Bloom on very samll plants!
