PAPHIOPEDILUM COMPLEX HYBRIDS

Woodstream Orchids is pleased to be offer a terrific selection of high potential complex sttandard paphiopedilu hybrids. This is the new golden age for complex Paphiopedilum hybrids. After more than a decade the standard complex Paph hybrids are seeing a huge resurgence in popularity. No wonder... new emerging breeding lines have been bringing spectacular results and treasured cultivars!!! We will be offering an increasing number of new line complex crosses, as well as exciting novelty combinations between complex hybrids and species. These offerings will whet your appetite! It takes a while to get these seedlings up to blooming size, but we have done most of the waiting for you! If we had our way, we would keep them all!

Please note the crosses marked with "PA" before the number come from the innovative breeding lines of Barry Fraser's Papa Aroha Orchids! Barry Fraser retired in 2005, and Woodstream Orchids has purchased the significant portion of his elite breeding stock and thousands of seedlings. Look below for many new offerings!

Brushed hybrids represent combinations of breedling lines designed to provide new looks for complex Paphs. We are looking for crisp colors and of course fine form.

Ogallala 'Penn Valley' AM/AOS (Hellas x Inca) - On a good blooming this is a commanding large tan and bronze flower. When Dr. W.W.Wilson sold his collection, we selected 4-5 plants for our collection.. This was one of them. Nice show plant! Fast-growing. Very lmited.

Breeding spotted complex Paph hybrids is both a challenge and an opportunity to develop some of the world's most stunning orchids. Many of these crosses produce huge flowers on tall stems when bloomed on mature plants. There are many different "looks" in this genre due to the large and diverse palette of background colors and spots that are available. A "good cultivar" is worth hundreds of dollars.
